Who he is
Kale had no stable childhood; he “fought his way through the world”. He has dabbled on both sides of the law and never picked one. He knows of Zaldara Kordris as a bad employer (“might do more than eat you”).
He’s the party’s fastest gun: first in initiative, first to blast, and too often first to fall. He went down twice at the Shrine of Kubazan with four arrows in him.
The voice
- A hissing, slithering voice has spoken to Kale for a long time.
- In Syndra Silvane’s curio room a gaudy magenta stained-glass serpent eating the sun spoke to him in that voice, from far away and deeply offended: “That’s supposed to be me. Why am I magenta?” → Syndra’s Curios
- In Session 5 he dreamt of black water, eyeless figures, pale snakes and a colossal golden eye: “The sun is only a scab over the sky, little speaker. We awaken.”
- His reading of it: his patron’s awakening would raise him up, at a terrible cost, by bleeding the world into eternal night. Its aim is to devour the sun. He doesn’t know whether he wants that.
- He has told the party only that he’s had such dreams since the Sword Coast and isn’t ready to talk. Gimbal now doesn’t fully trust him.
Notable moments
- Incinerated a coconut crab (flambéed crab).
- Grabbed the trapped gem in Zaldara’s lair; then Eldritch Blasted the cell bars and hit himself and Elias for 7 each.
- Recognised Fort Beluarian (natural 20).
- Discovered the Bottle of Pink Soap also removes hair.
