On the west side of the city, under purple and green canopies (S3).
- The place: a vast, multi-level stone plaza with colonnades carved with Chultan myths and stylised dinosaurs, and silk banners that dapple the light purple, green and gold. Hundreds of stalls sell gems, woven textiles, spices, insect repellent, rare jungle plants, and weapons from many ironsmiths.
- Rules: each prince’s guards patrol their own section in their own livery. This is where licensed goods are sold and taxed: weapons, shields and gear (Ekene-Afa); magic only under Wakanga’s seal.
- Armour: dinosaur-hide and crocodile leathers; wooden and reptile-scale shields. A few chain shirts and breastplates are for sale at a big mark-up, since all metal is imported. An armourer with dreadlocks advises against steel in this heat.
- The wealthy quarter where Kaya’s House of Repose stands is on the way here.
