At a glance
Rank: the Blaze (Fist commander) · Name: also Blaze · Post: Fort Beluarian, nearly a year · First seen: S3
- Looks: flaming red hair slicked back with sweat, a thick black handlebar moustache, and well-made steel armour with flames on the pauldrons. He wears steel because it was issued, in 42°C and 100% humidity, so his face is blood-red. Permanently furious.
- His men: the rest of the garrison finds the name hilarious. At the gate he is “Captain” to outsiders, but say “Blaze” to his face.
- What Zindar says: erratic, impossible to work with, “something off about him.” His predecessor was effective until “that nasty business”. Marshal Valerian once came out to flog the previous captain.
- The scroll case: arrested Kito as a spy and kept the Spiral-Sealed Scroll Case. “Got what I wanted from him.” He handed the boy over to “Ember” without a second thought.
- “Rather short for a Flaming Fist, aren’t you?”
